MONOTYPES (1990)

In 1990 Ove Lucas wrote: “The series of works called MONOTYPES was construed with photographical means. Although this materialization is evident, it tells us hardly anything about photography as an artform. The photographic moment in which something is captured seems to be of less importance. The exposed subjects will probably never develop beyond shape. At most there is an appeal to a gesture, a mimic, a sense of recognition. The medium is simply a means which he (PO) knows to manipulate, to shape his ‘dismantled’ figures. The shapes, portraits, seem to be bathed in a light that was painted in a darkroom.”
